i was thinking about just buying a new oil pan and oil pump, but dont know how to change um, never have but i want to try, just really dont know where to start and if that what i really need to do to fix my oil press... please help my pony is not well.. im hearing a soft nockin noise, it sounds like it coming from under my right valve cover... need help((89 ford mustang 5.0)) need some help, my oil press gage is acting funny.?
Before you do anything get a oil pressure guage and remove the oem oil sender and connect this to see what the oil pressure is for sure and then go from there.
The soft knock make just be a dirty or stuck lifter that can sometimes be freed up by adding a oil additive to the crankcase after changing the oil and filter.
The replacement of the oil pan gasket and oil pump is something that you most likely will not be able to do yourself because it involves a lot of time and the engine will have to be lifted out to the point so that the oil pan can be removed......
