1996 sl Saturn bogging down accelerating?

My rpm is going down like its going to shut off when i stop from accelerating and my %26quot;engine service soon%26quot; is lit up.

Do you think i need to change my oil filter or gas filter?

and i just change my gas pump 6 months ago.

If im going to change my oil filter where can i locate it?

and also for the gas filter?and how?1996 sl Saturn bogging down accelerating?
it sounds like you need to change your fuel filter or your fuel pump may be going out (sometimes they do repeatedly you can get bad ones from the shop (I once got 3 bad ones in 4 months)

It is usually on the fuel line from the gas tank, or it is on the fuel line entering the engine.

You usually need to change the oil filter every 3,000- 6,000 miles.1996 sl Saturn bogging down accelerating?
Ok, now I can help you here.

Most likely, just take ur car in and get a full service oil change (oil, oil filter, and air filter all replaced. If THAT doesn't work, try (if you arn't %26quot;mechanically apt%26quot;, I suggest trying a mechanic) adjusting the idle. I used to have a 96 SL1 and I ALWAYS had the %26quot;Service engine soon%26quot; light on. Also, you asked where the oil filter is. I assume you wish to change it yourself? If so, it can be reached on the underside of the engine (while the car is jacked up and on stands of course) slightly toward the passenger side wheel and toward the rear of the engine, if memory serves me correctly. Hope this helps!1996 sl Saturn bogging down accelerating?
The fuel filter should have been replaced when the fuel pump was replaced. Fuel filters will never clog unless it's the dead of Winter and there is moisture tht has frozen in the tank and the ice crystals clog the filter.

It sounds like you either have low fuel pressure, might have another bad fuel pump, or the catalytic convertor is almost plugged up. This happens especially in city driven cars with small engines.

The best way to check this is pull out the O2 (oxygen) sensor near the front of the engine exhaust manifold and then start the car and see if it runs OK when you rev the motor. If it does not bog down then you know it's the catalytic convertor.

Put the O2 sensor back in before you drive the car around so you don't start a fire under the hood.

Good Luck!
