my garage smells like gasoline... a lot... i have an oil spot on the floor and i know i need to change my fuel pump, but can gas mix in with the oil?? i am wondering if the spot on the floor is oil with gas in it... i just changed my fuel filter/ spark plugs/ dist cap is it possible that some how the gas mixed in with the oil is that not even possible??Can gas mix in with your oil?
Don't listen to the last bozo! The second guy is right. That is how you get gas in the oil, but it is very bad for you car. Extreemly detrimental... You see, oil lubricates your engine's parts and gasoline doesn't. In my experience with my cars I have had the fuel get past the rings, considerable power loss, and fouled spark plugs, and black smoke out of the back. Smell the fluid on the ground. May sound stupid but my nose hasn't failed me yet. 2nd check to see where the leak or leaks are coming from, sometimes you can have an oil leak dripping from your oil pan and a fuel leak from a fuel line that is dripping onto your drip pan and running down your pan and mixing on the ground with the oil causing you to think that you just have an oil leak or gas in your oil when really you have two leaks ending up together on the ground. Always inspect where they are coming from first. an easy an effective way to do this is to clean the area under your car and the ground where the leak is. place a rag where the fluid gathers. and when you see the drops fall look under you car to find wher it is comming from. and look at the colors, and then smeel them too.
Good Luck and Merry Christmas! Can gas mix in with your oil?
gas in the oil is possible, but usually in only 2 conditions, first being worn and cracked intake manifold gaskets where the fuel can enter directly in to the crank case ventilation area then in to the oil , or the 2nd being extremely worn piston rings where the fuel during the compression stroke slips past the rings and going directly in to the oil, but you would have a very noticeable power loss as well as a very smokey car.
good luck mrgreg1Can gas mix in with your oil?
IDK...LOL thats a good question. My friends car wouldn't start one day and we were both stranded on the freeway, then his crackhead stepfather came, raised the hood poured a little gas where the oil was suppose to be and *presto* you wouldn't believe the car started right up after we were trying are best to start it. So I don't know thats a good question. Can gas mix in with your oil?
it is possible, but i doubt that the source of the smell is that. there are a few areas in that car that will give you an area prone to leaks, and many of them are hard to locate. even a loose gas cap will create that smell. Can gas mix in with your oil?
gas and oil are the same thing they are both forms of refined petroleum, basically like ice and water. So yes they can mix and that is no big deal.

My 2001 Dodge Neon idles rough. How can I fix it?
My 2001 Dodge Neon idles rough in drive and reverse but idles fine in park and neutral. I have changed the spark plugs, air filter, spark plug wires, and the coil pack. I just recently had my transmission serviced (flushed and refilled), my throttle body cleaned, my oil changed, my fuel filter and pump replaced, PCV valve replaced, and my fuel injectors cleaned. I have check for error codes but none were found. I did a cylinder pressure test on each cylinder to check for a cracked head or gasket, all pressures where in the normal range and the same for all four cylinders. There is no signs or sounds of a vacuum hose leak. I have put A LOT of money into solving this problem but none of the above have worked. What else could be causing it to idle rough only in drive and reverse? Oh yeah my idling RPMs are around 600. Way to low!My 2001 Dodge Neon idles rough. How can I fix it?
the only thing you didn't mention that you haven't checked the timing on it ,if it gets one notch out of time that will cause the problem your having, you may also want to check and make sure the converter isn't causing this too happen,if you have no trouble codes coming from the computer this doesn't still mean that its not a bad sensor, sometimes a bad tps sensor or one that isn't registering right will cause this to happen, you also nee to run a fuel pump pressure test on it to verify the exact amount of fuel pressure its running when it does like that,it may be the pump causing this too happen also, good luck.My 2001 Dodge Neon idles rough. Check for a vacuum leak at the brake booster.

a can of throttle body cleaner sprayed while someone holds your gas pedal down while running. My 2001 Dodge Neon idles rough. How can I fix it (2)?
Did any of the old spark plugs look different then the other 3. If one looked oily it could be missing on that cylinder. If one looked white it could be leaking anti freeze into that cylinder. I have seen new spark plugs be bad. Try pulling one spark plug wire off one at a time to see if it makes the engine run worse. If one of them doesn't make it get any worse, that is the cylinder that it is missing on. Please I hope you are using champion spark plugs.programming love the person but

Why are gas prices going up when the price of a barrel of oil isn't?
The price of oil doesn't hasn't change much in the past 2 months but the price at the pump is up 50 cents. How does that make sense? It's not like it costs more to refine it.Why are gas prices going up when the price of a barrel of oil isn%26039;t?
First of all, let me say that the current price of gasoline, and oil, for that matter, does not reflect the current demand. The increases in prices are due largely, if not completely, to direct intervention by entities that can influence the prices.
The demand for oil is very low in comparison to the current supply. OPEC has, in order to increase their profits, cut back on production in order to thin the world's supply of oil. The demand for oil in comparison to the supply is slightly higher only because the supply is smaller than before.
A similar thing is being done by refineries. Refineries are scaling back production of gasoline so that they can make a profit. The demand for gasoline is still quite low. However, the supply of gasoline is getting smaller, which causes price to increase.
In other words, the prices for oil and gas are being influenced by controlling the supply. The demand is not increasing. The prices do not reflect the current economic condition. Why are gas prices going up when the price of a barrel of oil isn%26039;t?
supply and demandWhy are gas prices going up when the price of a barrel of oil isn%26039;t?
why do people ask the same exact question when you can just search for questions, its supply and demand, and to make it worse, now the oil companies know we'll still pay over $4 a gallonWhy are gas prices going up when the price of a barrel of oil isn%26039;t?
okay... so the people that buy oil will buy it straight from foreign countries and then sell it to your local gas stations. when the price per barrel from the foreign countries went down, a lot of people bought it hoping it would bring a good profit. however, when they went to sell it to the gas stations they couldnt sell it because everyone was trying to sell it to the gas station so each seller had to lower their price so the gas station would buy theirs (sorry that was a little wordy). but now, people have sold all their oil and the sellers are raising their prices again because the gas stations must buy it to stay in business. so the price of oil never changed but it is the change of supply that causes the change in price.

My bmw 3series died on me today for no apparent reason. the fuel is full.?
Just before it went off, i noticed the oil light come on. i serviced the car at a fuel station just yesterday. I had an oil change and then purged the fuel system because it was acting funny. the purging seemed to solve the problem till now. what do i do. i already checked the fuel pump and plugs. all seem to work alright. I hear the car can shut down to protect the engine? how do i get it back on? pls help.My bmw 3series died on me today for no apparent reason. the fuel is full.?
Yes the engine computer (DME) can shut down the engine to protect it from further harm. Somehow in your case the computer may have sensed something terribly wrong. Or even without the computer's intervention the engine can shut down for so many other reasons.
The car needs to be diagnosed by a knowledgeable BMW tech using a BMW GT1 which naturally dealers and some independents have.
Perhaps the check oil level light was due to a bad oil level sensor and of course no oil or low oil level would be a cause to shutdown. Low oil pressure or high engine temp readings are other possible causes.
But there are so many other reasons which would be too long to enumerate here.
Again, bring it to a BMW shop for diagnosis. Tow it if you have to.
At least pay for the diagnosis and then take it from there. My bmw 3series died on me today for no apparent reason. the fuel is full.?
what year is it?
I would take it in for an OIL change to the dealership ASAP! or get a tow truck.

Can i get money from Meineke?
So last thursday i decide to get a oil change from them which happens when im tired because i would prefer to do it myself.
I walk in there i ask about the type of oil change i ask for the most expensive which is the prefer with tire rotation.
I leave the car he says about 45 minutes.
Fine there is a all you can eat pizza place across the street so i decide to walk there while i get the oil changed.
Before i sit down i get a call that me radiator busted???
I don't eat i go directly back so i lost 10 bucks........
he mentioned as soon as they put it on the rack it must have had a hole already. I WAS IN SHOCK HOW COULD THAT BE.......
Guy mentioned he can replace for 420 out the doors i look at him crazy and then offer to fix for 300. Wow what a price break.
No way i can do myself and i don't have that type of money.
I TAKE A PICTURE OF WERE THE CAR WAS PARKED FOR A GOOD 5 MINUTES NO COOLANT LEAK AT ALL NOT EVEN ANY DROPS.
I take a picture of the floor no coolant at all.
I WOULD HATE TO ASSUME THEY PUNCTURED ME RADIATOR TO MAKE MONEY DURING THESE HARD TIMES.
THIS COMPANY IS WITH BBB AND THE ONLY REASON I TRUSTED THEM.
He offer to get me a radiator for 125 when i just looked in the bb and found 1 at Kragen for 99.99. Wow this guy does not stop trying to make money.
I go across the street and buy coolant and water to attempt to drive home.
a hour past less then a mile i go pick up all the parts i ordered.
I had to sell the radiator which means now i have to flush the whole engine also. Only was i could drive the car home with out it over heating.
This is all thursday on the day off which if i knew they seem to be this way i would have changed myself in 20 minutes but i want some rest. But ended up putting a whole days work until thursday night.
Very next day i am working i am a merchandiser in this car is the commuter car. About a 2 hours in to the day i noticed i was leaking oil and coolant. Its a common problem when you change the radiator that the water pump goes also.
Yes the guy did not tighten the oil pan screw and i had to fill the up again!!!!!!!
Yes drip drip from a so called Professional location backed by the BBB.
So i have call in from work friday after 2 hours of working to fix the car. I arrive home it is to late but i did buy the parts to fix. I live in a apartment and how i wish i had a garage with light for i can fix that day and not miss another day at work. That's friday i let work know i will not be able to come in i have to fix the water pump. About 4 hour and it cost about 80 dollars for the parts and at any location 250 for the labor.
Im back to work Sunday car all good now thanks to me being lazy and the oil place being crooked.
Total money lost.
Friday for work:200
Sat work:250
Labor thur:300
labor sat:300
What can i do about this????
Any help because i have never encountered a situation like this.
PS will always change me own oil from now on.Can i get money from Meineke?
Your experience with this chain matches mine. I don't know how they can get any return business if they're ripping people off.
Your radiator probably wasn't busted, they just told you it was. In fact, in all probability your water pump was leaking, they saw a drip and %26quot;assumed%26quot; (whether in good faith or bad) that the leak was coming from the radiator. $420 sounds like a decent price for parts and labor if they're replacing the entire cooling system. Which is crazy expensive, but when you've got to take old radiator hoses off it's a good time to replace 'em.
If you still had that radiator you could take it to an independent radiator shop to verify, if the radiator is good or if it's bad and you can prove Mieneke put a hole in it you may have a claim for fraud. Aside from possible punitive damages (those laws vary by state) you aren't entitled to any more than it would have cost for a competent mechanic to fix what they did to your car, possibly attorney fees and costs, and the value of loss of use of your car (i.e., what a rental would cost). A competent mechanic could likely have fixed all this in about 4 hours.
It may be worth the initial consultation fee to talk to a lawyer. Can i get money from Meineke?
The only thing you can do is call the store manager and complain about the oil leak. It'll be hard to prove that he did somethign to the radiator, even with the pictures, but you certainly can try.
Your best bet is to just forget about it and not go back.

1989 Toyota Camry Owners or Previous Owners?
I currently own an DLX v6 89 camry and am looking for advice to improve my gas mileage %26quot;19 city/ 24 highway mpg%26quot;
but I'm only getting about 18 on the highway for some reason
Please answer as many of my questions as you can, I appreciate your help
1) How do I know how much air to pump into my tires? (size: P195/60R15)
2) What kind of oil should I use to change my oil and is 5 quarts enough for a v6 engine?
3) What kind of antifreeze/coolant fluid do I use (color)?
4) Engine hesitates sometimes on startup, then dies, making me restart the engine again, could this be the sparkplugs?
5) Any additional advice you can give me?1989 Toyota Camry Owners or Previous Owners?
1 35 lbs should be enough for that size
2 Depending on the miles on the motor and the temps you drive in, 10w40 to 20w50, if you have high mileage, as i suppose you do and you drive in hot temps you can even mix the to. 20w50 is thicker oil for higher mileage motors and higher temps. Start with 4 and a half quarts on a fresh oil change and start the engine. Shut it off and check the level and add accordingly.
3 It takes green, but you can get coolant that will work for any type or color (universal).
4 Yes it could be plugs, but if that doesnt work, try cleaning the throttle body.
5 The back valve cover and the front seals by the timing belt love to leak oil on these higher mileage motors. Hope that helps and Good Luck to you.1989 Toyota Camry Owners or Previous Owners?
your tire pressure is sometimes located on the sticker on the driver side door jamb or in the owners manual. you cant go by the tire because every car is different us conventional motor oil which ever weight it calls for an change it every 3000 miles have your coolant changed every 2-3 years unless it is really bad then trust your mechanic on how often to get caught up try changing your plugs and wires it sounds more like your wires are bad most importantly change your air filter you can also have your fuel filter changed1989 Toyota Camry Owners or Previous Owners?
Keep your tires at about 30 psig cold
Oil will depend on the climate but 10W40 to 5W 30 will be fine
Coolant does not matter
Need a tune up, plugs rotor gas and air filter
Driving style will save the most millage anticipate stops, easy acceleration, keep your highway speeds at 55, don't idle for long periods of time etc1989 Toyota Camry Owners or Previous Owners?
1) 35psi.2)get 6 qts. im sure it leaks.3)green.4)tune up cold start valve-injector. water in gas intake needs to be cleaned out. new air filter.cat benefits from computer viruses
