If you want to change the oil yourself this is fine and yes it is done from
the dipstick. The only thing I do suggest is that you do take it back to where you purchased it to have them set your idle properly and also have them hook it up to the diagnostic tester to be sure there are no fault codes or any problems. As for turning over 6 to 8 times before it starts, this is normal because it needs to get the information from all the sensors for the computer to tell it what it needs to start. If it is too
far to take the boat back to the place you purchased it to have it checked, you can take it to your nearest marine and they can do the set-up because it is under warranty still.Hope this helps and happy boating.New 08%26039; SX 20%26039; Mariah boat with 5.0 MPI NEED HELP!!
Normally the oil is pumped out through the dipstick. If you do it yourself, make sure that you run the engine till it reaches full operating temperature. This makes the oil easier to pump out. Regarding the metal filings, don't get too much head problems with them. They are trapped in the oil filter. Make sure you change that too. I would recommend that you take this boat back to the dealer for the oil and filter change and have him set the idle properly and check all other parameters. The engine should not stall nor should it start as hard as you described it You invested allot of money in this boat, don't skimp on service and maintenance. Good luck.
